As customer expectations accelerate, DELTA Service Production (DSP) set out to solve a challenge shared by many high‑mix electronics manufacturers: how to deliver production‑level quality from the very first board? Simultaneously, maintaining the speed and flexibility needed for urgent prototypes to ramp-up production.

To support rapid growth and strengthen their industrial excellence, DSP invested nearly €2 million in two ultra-high performance SMT lines built entirely around Mycronic technology. The result is a single, integrated production environment where rapid prototypes and ramp-up production run on the same lines, without compromise.

How does DSP achieve efficiency when prototypes and ramp-up production share the same lines?

Customers need fast prototypes that are ready for production

DSP’s customers come with many questions: How fast can I get my prototype? Can it be built on real production equipment? And ultimately, will it scale? Many projects start before designs are fully ready, yet still require short lead times, fast design updates, and production‑level quality from the first build.

Running prototypes and ramp-up production runs that are successful

When prototypes and ramp-up products share the same lines, problems can show up quickly. Limited process control or incomplete inspection can cause delays, rework, or defects early on. To deliver prototypes that are stable, repeatable, and ready to scale, DSP needed a different technical approach.

To meet these demands consistently, DSP needed more than strong processes. They needed an SMT setup designed to support prototyping and ramp-up production on the same lines, while keeping full control over quality at every step.

An integrated SMT setup for fast prototypes and controlled ramp-up production

DSP’s new production environment is built around a closely connected set of Mycronic solutions:

Together, component placement and storage with AOI create a single production flow from storage to placement to inspection, designed to support fast SMT lines - providing fast, quality production from the first board.

Our strategy is based on a simple yet ambitious promise: deliver faster, with flawless quality, thanks to state‑of‑the‑art technological resources, says

Production quality from the first board

Rather than separating prototype and production builds, DSP runs both through the same controlled production process, reducing handovers and risk while ensuring predictable results as products scale.

Inline SPI and AOI systems provide immediate feedback, helping DSP stabilize quality from the first article through volume production.

MYTower smart storage systems ensure real time material visibility, controlled environments, and continuous material supply directly at the line.

Because prototypes and production runs share one optimized setup, DSP can switch between job types quickly, without delays or performance tradeoffs.

A strategy built on innovation and industrial excellence

By designing its SMT environment around integrated placement, smart storage, and inline inspection, DSP has built a production setup that supports growth without separating prototypes from production.

DSP strengthens its role as a trusted technology partner, helping manufacturers build fast prototypes, scale production, and maintain consistent quality on the same lines.

For manufacturers facing similar challenges, the message is clear: with the right SMT setup, it is possible to shorten lead times, scale production smoothly, and maintain high quality from the first board onward.
