PRESS RELEASE

Täby, 20 February, 2015 - The global SMT solutions provider Mycronic will showcase smarter electronic inventory control and innovative big board applications at IPC APEX on February 24-26 in San Diego, California.

Pointing to explosive demand for “smart cars”, smartphones, tablets and LED lighting, Mycronic says it will introduce next-generation electronic assembly solutions to help subcontractors and OEMs navigate this fast-moving climate with high productivity. New solutions to be on display include stencil-free jet printing at speeds up to 1,080,000 dots per hour, more flexible pick-and-place solutions, software and next-generation inventory management with innovate Agilis Smart Bin technology.

Fast and flexible solutions
“Despite a fragile economic recovery, we’re seeing robust overall growth in the global electronics sector fueled by the ‘internet of things’ and strong consumer demand for electronic devices,” says Brian Duffey, President of Mycronic Inc. “The rising need for fast and flexible equipment is well synched with our ability to offer extremely agile high-performance software-driven platforms.” He cites the need for better control over inventories and the ability to handle large and odd-sized boards as added drivers.

New Agilis Smart Bins
The Agilis Smart Bin System, which builds on the success of the award-winning Agilis feeder concept, now includes so-called e-labels that are attached directly to the Agilis Smart Bins. The labels allow operators to receive just-in-time information about material movements, anywhere on the shop floor, thanks to a factory-wide wireless communication link. Controlled by the MYCenter Material Handling software, the system guides the operator through the entire kitting and changeover process by presenting instructions on the PC monitor as well as new e-labels. As a result, operators can work more efficiently and instantly locate missing material by sending a signal directly to the electronic label.

More control over inventories
“With the US economy starting to roar back to life, I can’t think of a better present to our customers than our next-generation Agilis Smart Bin System,” says Duffey. “Ever since we invented the Agilis feeders, they’ve been hugely popular for reducing manual steps and improving inventory control. Now, with the new paperless kitting and e-labeling, we’re taking this system to the next level!”

New large-board options on MY600
No newcomer to large-board handling, Mycronic says it will now extend its offering to provide added capacity and options for jet printing large boards. This extended capability is often needed in the production of server back planes, burn-in boards, LED tube lighting or panels for large LED displays. The company will now offer options to extend board capacity by 50% on its stencil-free MY600 Jet Printer up to 30” × 20” (762 × 508 mm) with weights up to 11 lbs (5 kg). Together with the MY200 pick-and-place platform, Mycronic can now offer a flexible and versatile total assembly solution for large-board applications.
